The second set of bones rested on an old rotten piece of canvas, something cut from an old tent, it looked like. The bones were relatively sound, not moved around so much by predators or weather. It was an almost a complete skeleton.
Rick Travis walked up to it slowly, genuinely worried about cross-contamination. The age of the bones looked similar to the other set. Whatever happened to these two people happened about the same time. It was damned spooky.
Then he noticed something poking out from beneath the canvas, something that didn’t look like it belonged. It looked like an old card. Business card, maybe. Though he knew he shouldn’t touch it, curiosity overwhelmed Ricky. A clue? An answer to an old mystery. After so many years, would it really matter if he touched it?
He reached down for the card, his hand trembling….
