Hummingbird silhouette


After a couple of years trying to capture a hummingbird in flight, I finally did so last night.

They were in a teasing mood, darting between the feeder and a nearby pine tree, and just as I had my camera armed and ready, the young couple waited until I had one of them in my sights and then zip away. No doubt laughing. With the sun almost directly in my eyes, it all came down to perseverance. I won, but barely. The angle wasn’t what I hoped for, but I’ll take it.  And it’s not like they’re professional models. Unlike, say, chickens.
