The age

When does the age end?

When you’re a child and first hear the plunder in a man’s voice, words seeded with shame and accusation. Hand becomes fist, compassion to toothsome appetite; innocence is broken and humility becomes gall.

Doubt the quality of your own heart, or the worth of any man’s, and the age has passed. And a child will heed your voice.
